UK Parliament attack: cop stabbed, car driven into at least five bystanders, shots fired

The British Parliament is in lockdown after a shooting incident there, reports the BBC. A police officer was reportedly stabbed, and a vehicle ran five people over on nearby Westminster Bridge. Metropolitan police say they shot an assailant and are presumptively treating it as a terrorist incident "until we know otherwise."

BBC Radio 5 reports that "around three shots" were heard after a man ran at the gates of the parliamentary compound, armed with a knife.

It's not clear if there were two separate assailants. The obvious assumption taking hold on social media is that the driver of the car was also the attacker in Parliament Square. The Prime Minister and her cabinet are reportedly safe. https://twitter.com/thepatrickdaly/status/844561414907985922
