Trump pardons Joe Arpaio

President Donald J. Trump today pardoned the lawless racist and former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio. He was found guilty and in contempt of court, in a case involving violation of American law with racist intent. Of course he was Trump's first pardon.

"He ran and won a campaign to become Sheriff of Maricopa County," the statement from the White House reads in part.

"Throughout his time as Sheriff, Arpaio continued his life’s work of protecting the public from the scourges of crime and illegal immigration. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is now eighty-five years old, and after more than fifty years of admirable service to our Nation, he is worthy candidate for a Presidential pardon."
